The following is an update regarding the Shelter as of 1-29-20:

  • Painters began prep work in the building.
  • Removal of the old flooring began over the weekend.
  • Painting and new floor will both will be completed by the opening date.
  • Smoke detectors have been installed
  • Harbor Interfaith met with Mental Health of America regarding the outreach plan  – it will begin this Friday
  • Animal Care and Control reported that the Petco Foundation is donating pet food for the shelter and that the ASPCA has a mobile unit to provide vaccinations; CEO is in conversations with them.
  • New flooring installation is moving fast – expected to be fully installed by Feb 2.
  • Department of Health Services worked with Harbor Interfaith and finalized all of their equipment needs (washer, dryers, refrigerator, etc.)
  • The garage door has been replaced – the idea is to turn the garage into an open space for residents to congregate.
  • Exterior curb ramp was installed.
  • Plumbing work continues on the shower inside the building – they expect to have it retiled and completed by Friday.
  • Exterior lighting repair work began today.
