Neighborhood Purpose Grant (NPG) Application Process
2022-2023 Distribution

The Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) process provides Neighborhood Councils with greater opportunity to benefit their communities while supporting and building partnerships with local organizations. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profits as well as public schools. (Please note that grants cannot be issued to religious organizations or to private schools.)

Funding for Community Improvement Projects is also available for beautification & physical capitol improvement on Public Property.

Requirements

  • Benefit the Central San Pedro community.
  • Applicants must be a 501c3 non-profit or a public school.
  • Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later Monday, February 27, 2023 (if mailed), and received no later than Friday, March 3, 2023 (if emailed or delivered in person). Please be available for a verbal presentation at the virtual Finance Committee meeting on March 13, 2022 at 6:00pm.  The committee will then present its recommendations for funding to the board on March 21, at 6:30pm.

Application Process

  1. Individuals/Organizations interested in applying for these funds should review the above-stated requirements to determine if your proposal meets them.
  2. Prepare a brief proposal (2 to 3 pages) providing the following information:
  3. Name and contact information of person submitting proposal (Must be signed and filled out by 501c3 Officers). Include phone number, email address and physical
  4. Describe the project to be considered, where it will take place and how will it benefit the Northwest San Pedro community.
  5. What is the time frame? When will the project begin and end? (Must end in fiscal year money provided) (July 2023)
  6. Provide a detailed budget – the total amount requested and a breakdown of what the funds will be used for (be as specific as possible). Are there other funds needed to complete the project? If so, where will you get them?
  7. Obtain a cover letter on sponsoring organization’s letterhead with their Federal Tax Identification Number, contact name, business address, email address and phone number of the fiduciary officer to be responsible for receiving and administering the grant funds.
  8. Submit a formal Application for Neighborhood Purposes Grant including proof of 501c3 or Public-School status and Business Tax Registration Certificated (BRTC).
