Subject: Fwd: Mayor’s Los Angeles Youth Council

Good afternoon everyone,

On behalf of Mayor Eric Garcetti, we would like to extend the opportunity to nominate or recommend a few passionate students to participate in our new youth program, the Los Angeles Youth Council. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are interested in civic engagement, youth issues, and municipal government.

The Los Angeles Youth Council is a program put together by Mayor Garcetti to increase youth involvement in local government. He understands the value that our youth bring to our city, and wants to provide them a venue for them to voice their opinions freely and peacefully. Each of Los Angeles’ eight areas (East Valley, West Valley, South L.A., Downtown, Eastside, Harbor, Westside, and Central) will have its own Youth Council made up of around 25 local applicants, and they will participate in local civic engagement and community service projects. Not only will the City of Los Angeles benefit from knowing the youth’s stance on these issues, but the students will gain invaluable experience towards their leadership and problem solving skills that will be useful in their careers.
If you know of any qualified candidates for the Los Angeles Youth Council,
please encourage them to apply and email their complete application packets
to: octaviano.rios@lacity.orgThank you for your partnership. – Octaviano
