I’m Mona Sutton, and I’m a stakeholder in central San Pedro. I”m co-owner of the Omelette and Waffle Shop, and a property owner in the central district.
In my 25 year tenure as a resident here trying to carve out a life, and a business, I’ve always wanted this little sea side town to be a cleaner, safer, place to work and live. I’ve never accepted on any of the business corridors, port’s of call village, or in any neighborhood, the lack of pride of ownership, lack of investment, mottled with graffiti, trash or crime. I resent the reality that our town whether real or perceived is where the ghetto meets the sea.
I’ve worked tirelessly creating relationships with other stakeholders, sat on enough committees and boards, to make anyone’s head spin. worked as a community partner with an elite group of LAPD officers, chief’s, commanders, city councilmen, collaborated with every elected official in sight. I have put so much energy into pushing to create a climate of cooperation and collaboration among folks that most often don’t like one another, to come together and work hard for the greater good, and common sense change. I want stronger forward motion to an end goal of San Pedro becoming a shining example of a first class destination. I’ve decided to run for the neighborhood council because I’d like to lend my strength and dignity as an example to further unite all San Pedrans for a call to action to take responsibility for making our village an amazing place to live.
