Study Background:

In April 2019, the Metro Board directed staff to conduct a feasibility study of extending the Vermont Transit Corridor from 120th Street to the Metro J Line Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) transitway station to ensure regional connectivity.

The Vermont South Bay Extension Feasibility Study is evaluating Bus Rapid Transit and rail options that could potentially provide a critical north-south transit connection to serve a number of key communities including the heart of South Los Angeles, Harbor Gateway, Gardena, Harbor City, and Wilmington, as an extension of the future Vermont Transit Corridor project.

The Vermont Transit Corridor Project will study a range of transit improvements as part of the next phase of the project including environmental review which is anticipated to start in early 2023.  Metro is currently engaging with community members and partnering with Community Based Organizations to ensure the planning and environmental process incorporates community feedback and reflects their needs, priorities, and vision for Vermont.

The February 16 meetings will provide the final outcomes for the Feasibility Study.
