At Central’s August 13th Stakeholder Meeting, residents living next to Leland Park were in attendance to ask for assistance in getting the park upgraded. A Powerpoint presentation at the meeting showed the current state of deterioration of this park. (View presentation here.) A representative from the Department of Rec and Parks was on hand to answer questions and give an update on what the city is doing to fix the problem. LAPD Captain Nancy Lauer made a commitment to the residents that LAPD would police the park more frequently. An ad hoc committee for formed by the Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council Board to deal with the Leland Park issues.
